So after some epic fishing in August unfortunately I wasn’t able to get out for quite a while. But being the true friend I am and with some perfect weather for the boat I lent it to Tim for as long as he wanted while I couldn’t get out. He continued to improvise what we had learned landing numerous 70cm+ fish to 75cm as well as witnessing something I have only dreamed of…
So that’s a load of crap but it makes for a funny title anyway. I’ll follow on from my last post and so onto 2017. I didn’t fish much, at all early last season. I actually bought a fly rod and started targeting mullet. Wow! Isn’t that addictive! Have to say visual fishing for me probably is the ”Pinnacle” of fishing, I don’t think I’ll enjoy anything as much as that style. If you don’t see them eat it, it don’t count!
I’ll start writing again here… and where my new addiction has come from, Surface fishing! I had missed most of August and September that year but with holiday still to take I gambled on a booking a week off with the intention to fish like mad.
The Fiiish crazy sandeel… This shouldn’t really surprise me and to be fair it’s not so much about the lure as the fish. But on it’s day the Crazy sandeel showed me ”how” it was done and I was taught another lesson on the boat. This was in June and I had only just started to use a fish finder.
I feel bad for neglecting my blog this year, I knew it wasn’t going to be an ordinary year and that things would have to be sacrificed. One was my fishing time and the other was finding time to keep my blog updated with anything interesting I may encounter when I did get out. Well I’ve hardly done any shore fishing this year due to work commitments and have zero to write about in that respect unfortunately but I have been getting out on my SIB when I can and it has been very interesting in that respect. So hopefully over winter I’ll be able to find the time to catch up on some of my experiences. Continue reading
It’s been a slow start to the year, normally the early season is my favourite time and normally most productive… Sea temps where good early on but took a while to get upto 12 which can happen in a couple weeks with a heatwave. Instead the temps stayed down and it took a month to reach this.
2015 was a funny year, I started slow and focused my time on my work. I didn’t want to put as much time into night sessions as I did the year before as it was just to grueling and planned to get maximum usage out of the boat in the day time instead to hopefully get me my fishing fix.
The last of the sun for 2015??? We are mid October now but I hope there are more days like this to come as I enjoy every day I get to go out on the boat. The SIB has been a tremedously fun bit of kit this year and has given me a new angle on my fishing. Me and Kory jumped at the opportunity to get out when I saw a break in the weather… Continue reading
A little catch up… September sucked and I was hoping it would be a good time for some serious fishing. It started brightly and over my birthday at the end of August I had a few days off. I managed to get out on the boat 3 times over 5 days. One day was perfect with plenty of fish smashing the topwaters. Me and Kory managed quite a few and mostly around the 3-4lb bracket. I hooked into a better fish only for the new singles that I had put on the patchinko to let me down. Gutted!
