Autumn 2017

So after some epic fishing in August unfortunately I wasn’t able to get out for quite a while. But being the true friend I am and with some perfect weather for the boat I lent it to Tim for as long as he wanted while I couldn’t get out. He continued to improvise what we had learned landing numerous 70cm+ fish to 75cm as well as witnessing something I have only dreamed of…

The ”Pinnacle” of fishing…

So that’s a load of crap but it makes for a funny title anyway. I’ll follow on from my last post and so onto 2017. I didn’t fish much, at all early last season. I actually bought a fly rod and started targeting mullet. Wow! Isn’t that addictive! Have to say visual fishing for me probably is the ”Pinnacle” of fishing, I don’t think I’ll enjoy anything as much as that style. If you don’t see them eat it, it don’t count!

Le crazy!

The Fiiish crazy sandeel… This shouldn’t really surprise me and to be fair it’s not so much about the lure as the fish. But on it’s day the Crazy sandeel showed me ”how” it was done and I was taught another lesson on the boat. This was in June and I had only just started to use a fish finder.

2015 Summary

2015 was a funny year, I started slow and focused my time on my work. I didn’t want to put as much time into night sessions as I did the  year before as it was just to grueling and planned to get maximum usage out of the boat in the day time instead to hopefully get me my fishing fix.

We certainly haven’t seen many days recently where this would be possible but along our part of the coast there is nearly always somewhere you can find the wind off your back and this can certainly give an opportunity to get slightly offshore. The main reason behind getting the SIB was to improve our chances of fishing during the daytime or when the conditions didn’t really take our fancy from the shore and it’s also a huge new learning curve for me and getting any sort of result from these sessions is always pleasing.

Easter weekend in the SIB

I recently brought a new engine for the SIB and easter weekend was going to be it’s trial run. Saturday we headed out and launched in a local estuary just to try out the engine and make sure we had no funny buisness and if everything ran smoothly then on the Monday we could hit the coast with some lovely conditions…

The Light sessions

I seem to have done more fishing with the LRF and light gear through these winter months than usual and it has been thoroughly enjoyable. Playing with different rigs/techniques and it’s all food for thought when It does come to the Bass season and whether these will be worthwhile using in different situations to improve catch rates only time will tell but it’s good to be able to enjoy sport on the lures all year round.
